Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal can happen on UFC Fight Island
While nothing is written in stone, it seems there’s a possibility we will see Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal in the near future – A meeting between two of the sports biggest stars.
With the state of the world being as it is, it’s hard to make all too many predictions for future UFC fights. While, luckily, there are fights planned for the coming weeks, there is still much instability that could affect those or other fights. Despite that, if all parties involved want it, it seems like the UFC can make fights happen, if nothing else on the newly acquired Fight Island.
Jorge Masvidal stands as one of the biggest stars in the UFC at the moment, after having a spectacular 2019 and capturing thee UFC BMF title. Masvidal’s next fight seems to be, by all logical standards, a title fight with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, UFC president Dana White revealed that he may have soem very different plans for Masvidal.

“The Usman fight is the fight that makes sense,” White on the Menace and The Man Podcast. “It’s the fight that needs to happen if Masvidal wants a title shot.
“But, yeah, there’s another interesting fight out there for him right now.”
After this White was presented with the idea of Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal, and the UFC boss was open for the possibility.
“Very good point,” White said. “That’s a possibility too.”
Since McGregor is in his native Ireland, it could prove very difficult to enter the United States as of now. White has said that Fight Island would specifically be for international fighters to be able to compete at.
Masvidal called out McGregor last year. Since then the two have jabbed at each other, with Masvidal for the most part being the one to instigate a fight. He currently sits on a three fight winning streak – Al T/KO’s. McGregor returned to the UFC earlier this year, defeating Donald Cerrone via first round TKO after just 40 seconds.
