Russian rapper attacked and humiliated – For dissing Khabib Nurmagomedov
Tensions have risen in the Russian MMA community as a diss track from a local rapper, aimed at Khabib Nurmagomedov, resulted in the artist getting viciously attacked.
While art and music is usually a safe space for expression, there are times when the message gets on peoples nerves. There are many times that rivalries have turned deadly withing the realm of cultural expression. Religiously insensitive messages in art and music have resulted in controversy and even violence. Dmitry “Anubis” Kuznetsov is a Russian rapper and MMA fighters who was recently attacked and humiliated after releasing a song that heavily criticises UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Kuznetsov released the song “King of Hypocrisy” earlier this year, and it came at a cost. In the music video someone wearing a Khabib-style Dagestani wool hat is seen throwing money at a homeless person doing push-ups – A recreation of something that Nurmagomedov actually did. Kuznetsov also pokes fun at Nurmagomedov’s sexuality, mostly based on a picture circulated by Nate Diaz .

This video caused a stir in the Russian MMA community. Many of Nurmagomedov’s most hardcore fans took it upon themselves to avenge the UFC champion. Not long after that the video was released, Kuznetsov was reportedly attacked by five men, beaten and humiliated.
“Now everyone will try to beat me up and humiliate me? This time five people, how many there will be the next time?” asked Kuznetsov in a post on Instagram.
“Why did you drag me along the concrete and tear my clothes? I don’t understand. Did they really want to rape me? I got some scratches and a hit in my head, so what? [You are] strange people,” the rapper continued.
Kuznetsov also said that even his parents have received threats as a result.
“I’ll have to move away from my family for their safety. There will be no police report and no apologizing, I got nothing to apologize for. My intentions and spirit will not be broken,”
As of now, Nurmagomedov has not commented on the happenings.
