The UFC officially files trademark for “Fight Island”
No matter how outlandish it may have seemed, the UFC’s own Fight Island seems to be becoming more and more real. The UFC officially filed 22 new trademarks for “Fight Island” and “UFC Fight Island”. Josh Gerben of Gerben Law Firm recently reported the trademark filing on social media.
On April 13, the UFC filed 22 new trademarks for:

“The filings were made based on an ‘intent to use’ FIGHT ISLAND as the name of a mixed martial arts competition and for branded goods such as clothing and jewelry,” Gerben wrote.
Earlier this month UFC president Dana White announced that he had acquired a private island for the purpose of hosting UFC events. The reasons for this is that the current pandemic has brought with it several travel restrictions, and many international fighters may have issues travelling to the United States.

“I locked this venue (that will host UFC 249) for two months,” White told TMZ , speaking onthe subject. “I have this venue for two months, and we’re setting up shop here. We’re going to be pumping out fights every week. I’m also a day or two away from securing a private island. I have a private island that I’ve secured. We’re getting the infrastructure put in now, so I’m going to start doing the international fights, too, with the international fighters.
The UFC has so far been forced to cancel and/or postpone four events so far, with UFC 249 being the most noteworthy. Though it has been speculated that the coming May 9th UFC event may be re-branded as a delayed UFC 249, as the interim lightweight title is at stake.
White has faced both praise and criticism for his steadfast and stubborn attitude, determined to bring UFC fights to the fans. While the concept of “Fight Island” seems fantastical, White and the UFC are clearly taking steps towards making it a reality.
