Conor McGregor on new UFC belt: “I’m getting one of these”

“Make no mistakes about that.”

It’s been several years since Conor McGregor last held a UFC belt, but he claims a new belt is coming soon.

As most of the world is under lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is no opportunity for sports competition. This leaves much time for speculation and future plans. While on a recent trip to the Ukraine, former UFC double champ Conor McGregor had a chance to visit the Parimatch fight academy, where he also got his hands on a copy of the new UFC championship belt.

“Oh yes, I’m getting one of these babies,” McGregor said while holding the UFC belt. “Make no mistakes about that.”

Earlier this year, McGregor made a triumphant return to the UFC. In the main event at UFC 246 he faced fan favourite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, winning via first round TKO. Since then UFC president Dana White has spoken about McGregor possibly getting a title shot against the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson. However with the cancellation of UFC 249 and all UFC events being postponed, it is extremely unclear as to when the UFC will be back as usual.

McGregor remains one of the biggest draws the UFC has ever seen, and a new title shot for the Irishman doesn’t seem outlandish. It remains to be seen when McGregor can return to the UFC octagon, and pursue his dreams of earning another UFC title.

Do you think Conor McGregor will have a new UFC belt by the end of the year?
