Jose Aldo forced out of UFC 250 – Ex champ Dominick Cruz to face Henry Cejudo
The main event for UFC 250 will now see Dominick Cruz step up to face Henry Cejudo for the bantamweight title.
These hectic times continue to lead to short-notice changes to UFC cards. Earlier today UFC 249 lost it’s co-main event, as Rose Namajunas was forced out of her rematch with Jessica Andrade. UFC 249 will supposedly take place on Indian tribal land in California, as opposed to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Now yet another change has been made, albeit to UFC 250.
The aforementioned event was set to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 9th. Now, however, it’s likely that the event will take place on a private island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. The main event originally featured a bantamweight title bout between champ Henry Cejudo, and former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. According to Combate, Aldo has been forced to remain in Brazil due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Now, former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will step up to face Cejudo at UFC 250.

Cruz posted a message directed at Cejudo on social media, challenging the latter.

This is a welcome return for many fans, longing to see Cruz’ comeback. Unfortunately, Cruz is one of the unluckiest, most injury ridden fighters in the UFC. Due to repeat injuries Cruz has only competed three times during the past five years. His last bout was a decision loss to Cody Garbrandt, in which Cruz also lost his title. Cejudo sits on a five fight winning streak with three T/KO’s. In that win streak he has defeated both Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw.
