UFC boss slams Deontay Wilder for costume antics: “Bulls**t”

"I don't like it. I don't like any of that."

UFC president Dana White doesn’t care weather or not the costume that Deontay Wilder wore to the Tyson Fury affected him, he simply doesn’t like it at all.

The USA’s Deontay Wilder and UK’s Tyson Fury first met in 2018 in a fight that went all twelve rounds, and ended in a controversial draw. While Wilder finished strong with a vicious knockdown, many felt that Fury had done enough to earn the win. The rematch left no doubt, as Fury finished Wilder via TKO in the seventh round following two knockdowns. The American claimed, however, that his loss was the result of fatigue due to Wilder walking out in a 40 lbs costume.

“He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is … that my uniform was way too heavy for me,” Wilder said about the TKO loss to Fury.

Many have ridiculed Wilder for that statement, saying that his explanation is simply a bad excuse. UFC boss Dana White doesn’t seem to care how affected Wilder was by the costume, he just doesn’t like it at all.

“I think there’s a lot to it. Fury looked awesome,” White said in an interview with TMZ. “Fury fought a perfect fight. But, if you think about boxing and fights when fighters are getting ready, they’re in the back. They’re relaxing. Some guys sleep. Some guys just lay around and chill. Then you get up, you time it out, do your warm-up. Then you throw something on to stay warm. You don’t put all this gear on and all this stuff. That’s why I don’t do any of that bullshit in the UFC. I don’t like it. I don’t like any of that.”

However, White maintains that Fury was the better boxer, which is why the fight ended the way it did.

“The reason he lost is ’cause Fury is a bad-ass boxer, and he fought the perfect fight that night and executed his game plan.”
