Jon Jones open to rematch Dominick Reyes after controversial win
The dust has settled after UFC 247, an exciting event that was unfortunately marred by controversial judges decisions. While there were more than one instance of questionable scoring from the judges, none created more of a stir than the main event between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes. Jones has held a dominant position atop the light heavyweight division, seldom tested, often toying with his opponents. Reyes, who was a heavy underdog, took it to the champ in the early rounds, outscoring the champion in the first three. It was a close fight, though, and Jones ended up winning a unanimous decision. Acknowledging the tough fight, Jones is now open to face Reyes in a rematch.

“It’s my job to embrace the toughest challenges,” Jones said of a potential rematch with Reyes at the UFC 247 post fight press conference. “That’s what a champion is being about. I fought Daniel Cormier twice, I had no problem signing the contract. I fought Alexander Gustafsson twice and had no problem signing the contract. If the people want to see me fight Dominick again, it’s going to be up to Dana White to find a way to make that happen.”
While the fight was close, there are arguments for both fighters winning the bout. Many fans clamoured for an immediate rematch between Jones and Reyes as soon as the result was official. The most controversial aspect was one judge only giving Reyes a single round. This was highly contested by the commentators, as well as UFC president Dana White.
A Jones-Reyes rematch would undoubtedly be even bigger than their first fight, as the title challenger proved odds makers wrong. Jones is already one of the UFC’s biggest draws, and a second collision with Reyes now seems to be the bout the the fans want to see.
