Nate Diaz SLAMS Conor McGregor and Joe Rogan, defends Stephen A. Smith

In an inexpected twist, Nate Diaz has rallied to support Stephen A. Smith against Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor following UFC 246

The controversy surrounding Stephen A. Smith’s comments concerning Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone continues. Now Nate Diaz has entered the fray, saying that Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor owe Smith an apology.

It began shortly after UFC 246, where McGregor made his triumphant comeback, stopping Cerrone via TKO in just 40 seconds. While an impressive showing for McGregor, “Cowboy” was clearly outclassed. Smith then called Cerrone’s performance “disgraceful”. This prompted a strong rally to the fan favourite Cerrone, where Rogan and McGregor both took aim at Smith criticising him heavily. Smith then responded to Rogan.

“Mad respect to Joe Rogan,” Smith said. “Nothing but respect for the man and the tremendous work that he has done and will continue to do throughout the years and for years to come. But you’re wrong on this one my man.“

Smith’s response in turn garnered a comment from McGregor, who called for an apology for “Cowboy”.

“The call you discuss here is A+,” McGregor wrote in response. “I didn’t show enough. I’m not paid by the hour though. Joe’s comments however, come from you saying the opposition fighter quit. Broken nose/orbital bone say different. Fighting is vicious. Those who make the walk deserve full respect! Apologise.”

Diaz, who has has been critical of the UFC 246 main event fight to begin with, has gone on record to say that the fight was over before it started, that Smith’s observation was correct, and that he is in fact owed an apology from Rogan and McGregor.

“Rogan and Conor should give Stephen Smith a apology, he said what it was The fight was over before it started Get offfeachothers nuts,” Diaz wrote on Twitter.

Most fan sentiment regarding the comments Smith made have been overwhelmingly negative, and in support of Rogan and McGregor, not Diaz.
