Cris Cyborg makes $100,000 LESS than Julia Budd in historic title win
Bellator 238 took place this weekend, and to the surprise of many Cris “Cyborg” did not have the highest salary on the card.
The Bellator debut of Cris “Cyborg” Justino was much anticipated. After parting ways with the UFC, following a string of feuds with the promotion, she found a new home in Bellator. This was seen as a good move where Justinho could get the chance to shine. She would then go on to face reigning featherweight champ Julia Budd in her first promotional bout. The match started out relatively even, but “Cyborg” wore down her Canadian opponent, stopping her in the fourth round with a flurry of strikes.
Now, the salary for each fighter on the card has been released per MMA Fighting, and “Cyborg” made substantially less than her opponent – even in victory. The figures reported show Justinho earning 250,000 dollars base pay, with no win bonus available. This while Budd made 350,000 dollars base pay, no win bonus available. It is estimated, though, that “Cyborg” will begin getting a larger base salary for her coming title defences in Bellator.
That being said, “Cyborg” still made substantially more than other fighters on the card. Juan Archuleta, who was the third highest paid on the card, earned 50,000 dollars in his win over Henry Corrales – Just one fifth of Justinho’s pay out.
The full salary for “Cyborg” and all other Bellator 238 fighters can be found below.
