BREAKING: Henry Cejudo to be stripped of UFC flyweight title – Updated
Henry Cejudo is no longer UFC flyweight champion, as he has now been stripped of that title. He is now only bantamweight champion.
According to sources to BJPenn.com, later confirmed by MMAjunkie, the UFC have decided to strip Cejudo of his title due to inactivity. In reports that MMAJunkie elaborated on, Cejudo was not planning on returning to the flyweight division in time to defend his title. According to Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, they were not notified beforehand of the UFC’s decision. Cejudo has not yet commented on the issue.

Cejudo’s popularity has increased dramatically over the past year, as he has embraced a much more colourful and outspoken persona. After this weekend’s UFC 245, Cejudo challenged former featherweight champion turned bantamweight Jose Aldo. Cejudo has also remained undecided regarding his plans at flyweight.
According to the original reports, top ranked flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo will face off for the now vacant flyweight title. The bout is targeted for UFC Norfolk, which goes down February 29th.

According to a new statement from Cejudo, he claims he voluntarily relinquished the title.
