It seems that White is interested in booking Covington against former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
“I’d love to do [Covington] and Woodley next,” White said at the UFC 245 post-fight press conference. “That would be a fun fight, but if he has a broken jaw, he ain’t going to be around for a minute. After a war like this, he’s going to have to go rest, take care of himself for a while and then we’ll see what he wants to do.”
As White mentions, however, there is a good chance that Covington will be out on medical suspension, as he did in fact suffer a broken jaw in his latest fight. Despite that, it is a fight that is still more than possible. There is bad blood between Covington and Woodley and there is reason to believe that the latter would wait to get his hands on the divisions antagonist. This seems especially true as Covington has grown in popularity in conjunction with the bout at UFC 245, making it more of a high-stakes fight.
