Alexander Gustafsson wins in return – Talks UFC comeback
Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson has returned to combat sports. The former UFC title challenger retired from At AK Fighting Championship 3, taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden tonight, the Swedish star competed in a no-gi grappling superfight. Gustafsson faced undefeated Swedish prospect Anton Turkalj in the main event, winning via points.
The grappling bout played out exclusively on the feet, with neither fighter able to establish top position. In the end, Gustafsson initiated more takedowns, and Turkalj grabbed the ropes in the boxing ring to prevent one. Due to the activity and aggression Gustafsson displayed, he was awarded the win.

After the bout, MMAnytt spoke with Gustafsson about the win. He was pleased with the win overall, and saw the whole bout in a fun, relaxed way. Gracious and humble in his win, he also predicts that Turkalj will reach the UFC eventually. Gustafsson also commented on a return to MMA, as well as the upcoming light heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes.
While still not decided regarding a UFC return, Gustafsson enjoyed competing, as well the fan reception. Regardless of what he decides to do, he remains a huge draw in Swedish combat sports. and will always be one of the most revered combat sports athletes in Sweden.
