McGregor’s teammate: Diaz should retire… after “punch-drunk” interview

✅ "It’s not weed..."

Conor McGregor‘s Straight Blast Gym teammate James Gallagher is concerned for the health of Nick Diaz, and thinks a return to MMA competition would be a terrible idea.

Gallagher’s worry stems from an interview that Diaz did with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani in November. The 23-year-old Irishman thinks that Diaz sounds “punch-drunk” and that it is concerning to watch:

“That was scary. I don’t know what it is, punch drunk? It’s not weed, that’s not weed,” Gallagher said to Metro about Nick Diaz. “That’s punch drunk. What was he even saying? There was a clip took off that was 58 seconds long of him speaking and he didn’t say anything.”

Accordingly to Gallagher, this alone should keep Diaz from making a comeback.

Nate Diaz older brother Nick hasn’t fought in almost five years and hasn’t picked up a win since he destroyed B.J. Penn in October 2011.

After Jorge Masvidal picked up a win against Nate, Nick has been talking about making a comeback and avenging his younger brother. Gallagher feels that a comeback should be out of the picture for Diaz, especially since it is hard to even understand what he is saying:

“He was saying stuff like ‘I’ll walk if they want me to walk’, what? I don’t even think he knows what he’s saying. It’s scary and that interview was scary.”

But even though Gallagher thinks Diaz should stay away from MMA, he still regards him as a legend of the sport:

“He’s still a legend,” Gallagher continued. “I like him a lot. I’m a big fan, but I’m concerned with his health.”

Gallagher is currently on a three bout win-streak in Bellator, and is slated to compete in Ireland in February 22, 2020 against Callum Ellenor.

The 23-year-old Irishmen currently has a 10-1 record and has competed in Bellator since 2016.
