McGregor vs. Cerrone will be fought at 170 pounds
McGregor vs. Cerrone will be fought at 170 pounds and will be McGregor’s third time in the weight division, after fighting Nate Diaz twice in 2016.
McGregor has not fought since his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov on Oct. 6, 2018.
Before that, McGregor became the UFC’s first double-champion on Nov.12, 2016 by defeating Eddie Alvarez via TKO and thus holding both the featherweight and lightweight title simultaneously.
“The Notorious” McGregor has been surrounded with much controversy lately, punching an elderly man in a bar and being under investigation for two separate sexual assault cases.
“Cowboy” Cerrone fought four times in 2019, picking up three “Fight of the Night” bonuses. He started the year with a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez and then took home a unanimous decision against Al Iaquinta in May.
Cerrone is now on a two-bout losing streak after being finished by both Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje.
