Official: Jon Jones to defend LHW title against Dominick Reyes
UFC 247 will feature a main event that pits reigning light heavyweight champion Jon Jones against undefeated Dominick Reyes. The event takes place at The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, February 8th. The UFC made the news official recently, confirming reports that Jones and Reyes had agreed to face each other. The promotion also announced a title defence for women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, who takes on Katlyn Chookagian at the same event.

Jones regained the light heavyweight title in a rematch against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232. After silencing critics and winning the rematch via TKO, he next defended the title against Anthony Smith via unanimous decision. Jones would then go to a split decision in the first time in his career. After five rounds with the hard-hitting Thiago Santos, Jones won via a close decision at UFC 239.

Reyes has blazed a trail through the UFC light heavyweight ranks. In six straight victories he has finished all but two of his wins in the UFC. So far Reyes has defeated Jared Cannonier, Ovince Saint Preux, Volkan Oezdemir and most recently de TKO’d former champ Chris Weidman.
