UFC 244 SAVED – Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz still on!
All can rest east now: Nate Diaz is fully cleared to compete compete at UFC 244, despite it seeming like the fight wasn’t going to happen.
Diaz, who is no stranger to conflict with the UFC, left a cryptic message on social media earlier this week. In the post he explained that he wouldn’t be competing on account of USADA flagging him for elevated levels of a disallowed substance.
“I’m not gonna make it out to NYC for fight week next week because they say I tested with elevated levels that they say might be from some tainted supplements.” Nate Diaz explained. “I call false on that cause I only take Whole Food or natural food supplements. I don’t even eat meat! So unit UFC, USADA or whoever is FUCKING with me fixes it, I won’t be competing.”

Now it seems the event has been saved. The reason Diaz was flagged was due to changes in USADA regulation, in which certain substances need to be under an agreed-upon level. Apparently a vegan supplement triggered these levels, though both USADA and UFC officials have completely exonerated Diaz from any wrongdoing.
“The fight is ON!!! I 100% knew Nate wasn’t taking anything to cheat,” UFC president Dana White wrote on Instagram.
The UFC also released a statement explaining the situation.
