Bitter rivals Dillon Danis and Ben Askren agree to grappling match
Welterweight MMA fighters Ben Askren and Dillon Danis both have esteemed grappling credentials, and are considered some of the best in the division. Askren has an impressive wrestling background while Danis has successfully competed in BJJ competitions for several years. The two are also bitter rivals. Askren and Danis have gone back and forth on social media for months, with the former uploading several short “roast videos”.
Now the two might finally meet in a combat sports contest. Recently, Askren was a guest on The Ariel Helwani Show, and spoke of his desires to face Danis, a response to the latter’s previous challenge.

“At this point it’s my MMA career,” he stated. “When I am done with that if I chose to take part in a grappling contest it would be Dillion Danis.
“Obviously, he challenged me to a grappling match,” he added. “After my MMA career that’s something, I would definitely do.”
This garneered an immediate response from Danis on Twitter, who wrote:
“Biggest grappling match in the history of the sport Dillon Danis vs [Ben Askren] let’s fucking do it!”
Both Askren and Danis are two sides of the same coin. They both have a tendency to engage in trash talk and verbal sparring with both opponents and fighters in different weight classes. In MMA, Askren is much more accomplished than Danis, though, as he has held world titles in both Bellator and ONE Championship.
Askren will face Demian Maia on October 26th in the main event at UFC Singapore. Danis, however, does not have a match booked at the moment.
