Another bout has been added to UFC 245, taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, December 14th. MMA Junkie recently revealed a welterweight match up between former champ Robbie Lawler (28-14) and Argentinian contender Santiago Ponzinibbio (27-3). Lawler is in dire need of a win, as he has lost four out of his last five bouts. Since being knocked out by Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 and losing his title, Lawler has had a tough skid. While he defeated Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone via decision, he has since lost three straight fights. First via decision to Rafael dos Anjos, then via controversial submission to Ben Askren. Most recently Lawler was dominated for five rounds by Colby Covington.
Ponzinibbio hasn’t fought since November of 2017, meaning he will return to the UFC after a two year hiatus. The Argentinian sits on an impressive seven fight winning streak, with four of those wins via T/KO. In his ongoing streak he has defeated the likes of Mike Perry, Gunnar Nelson and most recently Neil Magny.
