Cris Cyborg on Dana White after UFC split: “He’s a liar”

✅ Despite former UFC champ Cris Cyborg leaving the promotion, she and UFC boss Dana White still can't seem to see eye to eye

Last week speculations were confirmed, Cris “Cyborg” Justinho signed with the UFC after a messy split with the promotion. Cyborg cited years of poor treatment, and her not being granted a rematch with Amanda Nunes for the featherweight title. UFC president Dana White claimed she’d been difficult to work with and that she, in fact, refused to take the rematch with Nunes.

When asked about the departure, White claimed that he released Cyborg from her UFC contract, deciding not to re-sign her. Cyborg now says that’s now how it all went down.

“After my last fight, I asked for a rematch (with Nunes),” Cyborg told reporters attending Bellator 226 “And they said they’re not going to give it to me.

“When I did my last fight (at UFC, I knew it was the last fight. When I stepped into the cage, I said, ‘This is the last one.’”

Cyborg claims that the decision to not continue fighting under the UFC banner was her decision, despite what White has said.

“He knew,” Cyborg said. “(Dana) said, ‘I’m out of the business of ‘Cyborg.’ I got out first. He did not let me go. I went first because he didn’t want to make the rematch, and I had to wait a long time to fight. But now, it’s in the past.”

Cyborg was attending Bellator 226 as a guest fighter, as she has not yet been booked for a fight in the promotion yet. At the moment, Julia Budd reigns supreme as the Bellator women’s featherweight champion. Budd has remained in the win column since a 2011 submission loss to Ronda Rousey. As of now she sits with an eleven fight winning streak.

Regardless of who’s correct as to who made the decision to have Cyborg part with the UFC, maybe the decision was for the best.
