Conor McGregor calls for Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch in Moscow

✅ After that Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his title, old nemesis Conor McGregor demanded a second shot at the undefeated Russian

UFC 242 took place last night in Abu Dhabi, a huge event that saw several finishes. In the main event undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov extended his winning streak to 28-0, after submitting interim champ Dustin Poirier via third round rear naked choke. It was Nurmagomedov’s return to MMA following his suspension after the brawl that broke with arch rival Conor McGregor. Now Nurmagomedov’s old foe is calling for a rematch.

Nurmagomedov vs McGregor, the main event at UFC 229, broke all previous pay-per-view records and became the most seen UFC fight of all time. There was a contentious buildup, with violent outbursts that only fanned the flames of ill will. Nurmagomedov dominated the match, eventually forcing McGregor to tap to fourth round submission. It was after the bout that Nurmagomedov scaled the cage, attacking McGregor’s corner, earning him a suspension.

While McGregor would surely want a rematch, it’s highly unlikely at the moment. Former interim champion Tony Ferguson has been adamant about getting his coveted shot at the undisputed title. Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have been scheduled to meet four times so far, but injuries and other unexpected issues have but the brakes on the match up every time. Ferguson claims to have been told by the UFC that he will get the next shot at Nurmagomedov’s title.
