Frankie Edgar still open for Conor McGregor fight: “I’ll fight wherever”
Former lightweight champion and three time featherweight title challenger Frankie Edgar is on his way to bantamweight. He decided to make the switch following his third failed bid to get a title shot, losing to Max Holloway via decision at UFC 240. Despite being linked to a fight with Aljamain Sterling at UFC 244 in what is looking to be one of the years biggest cards, Edgar is still leaving the door open for a potential bout with controversial former champ Conor McGregor.

“It’s no secret Conor’s the biggest star in the sport, or at least one of them,” Edgar told TMZ. “With that comes a lot of attention. He’s gonna be remembered, for sure, twenty years from now and I want to have that guy on my record.
“I’ll fight wherever he wants to fight. We can do it at welterweight if he feels. He’s gonna be bigger than me no matter where we fight at so, I’m game. I’ve been trying to watch my weight a little bit knowing that bantamweight is coming but I wouldn’t mind pouring some pounds on now.”
McGregor seems to be on his way back towards MMA, after a lengthy period of making controversial headlines outside of the cage. Seeing former foe Nate Diaz return to spectacular form at UFC 241 peaked McGregor’s interest for a return.
Edgar was previously linked to a bout with McGregor, back when the latter was the reigning featherweight champion. McGregor never defended either of his titles though, and Edgar would instead face Jose Aldo for the vacant title – and lost via decision.
Neither fighter is officially booked to face anyone in the UFC, but the ball seems to be in McGregor’s court at the moment.
