Georges St-Pierre gives high praise to “amazing” Nate Diaz

✅ Georges St-Pierre had a heated rivalry with Nick Diaz, despite that he has nothing but good things to say about his rival's brother Nate

Former welterweight and middleweight UFC champion Georges St-Pierre will go down in history as one of the all time greats. His accomplishments during his impressive career will he hard to top, and his opinions carry quite a bit of weight. GSP, much like the rest of the MMA community, recently witnessed Nate Diaz‘ comeback at UFC 241, where he handily defeated former UFC champ Anthony Pettis, and was just as impressed as MMA fans and media alike.

“What a comeback,” he said of Diaz’s victory in an interview with Chael Sonnen. “After three years, I was not expecting that. I think he looked better than he ever did [before]. It was amazing.”

Despite having a very different personality himself, always remaining a clear cut, good example and role model for martial arts, St-Pierre can’t help but love Diaz’ demeanour.

“He’s an amazing character,” St-Pierre said. “He’s so authentic. He doesn’t care what he says. He’s a very authentic guy, you know?”

While some fighters struggle to find a marketable identity, Diaz has come as far as he has by simply being himself. St-Pierre believes that this authenticity is what resonates with so many people.

“Now it’s the Conor McGregor era,” St-Pierre said. “You see a lot of guys try to mimic other guys that are more successful. In terms of their platform, they want it to become bigger, and it doesn’t work for a lot of them because they’re not authentic. But Nate Diaz is very authentic. He’s a unique person, a unique character, and that’s why people love him so much, because he’s so authentic.”

After his big win at UFc 241, Diaz issued a respectful challenge to Jorge Masvidal – a fight that the MMA community is extremely interested in seeing. Meanwhile, Diaz’ rival Conor McGregor also seems interested in a third bout between them.
