Report: Chris Weidman to headline UFC Boston vs Dominick Reyes
Chris Weidman is back, and he will return at a new weight class, against undefeated Dominick Reyes.
ESPN’S Brett Okamoto recently broke the main event for UFC Boston. According to the acclaimed journalist, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman (14-4) will make his light heavyweight debut against undefeated Dominick Reyes (11-0), per multiple sources to Okamoto. The event takes place at the TD Garden on October 18th.

Weidman had a meteoric rise in the UFC, capturing the middleweight champion by dethroning Anderson Silva, and following up with title defences against Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort. Weidman lost his fourth titel defence against Luke Rockhold via vicious knockout, and would go on to get knocked out in his two following bouts against Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi. He would get a submission win against Kelvin Gastelum, but was then brutally knocked out in his latest bout with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Reyes is enjoying a similar ascent in his time in the UFC. He began with three straight finishes, over Jared Cannonier amongst others. The undefeated talent then followed up with a one-sided decision win over Ovince Saint Preux. In his most recent outing Reyes went three rounds with former titel challenger Volkan Oezdemir. The close fight went all three rounds, with Reyes coming out on top via a controversial split decision.
