UFC boss: Conor McGregor will NOT get title shot
Despite his superstar status Conor McGregor will not be getting the next title shot against the Nurmagomedov-Poirier winner
As of late there have been many rumours surrounding Conor McGregor’s comeback to MMA. He was recently called out by welterweight standout Jorge Masvidal, who sees the Irishman as an easy fight. After McGregors last hiatus from the sport, during which he competed in boxing, he received a title shot against reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – and was promptly defeated via fourth round submission.

Now with rumours about McGregor’s potential comeback swirling once more, UFC president Dana White has chosen to speak out about the matter. White recently said that he wasn’t completely sure about McGregors return, other than that it’ll be late 2019 or early next year – and that he will not be getting a title shot against the winner between Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier.
“I think he’ll either back this year or early next year,” White told TMZ. “We’ll see how this whole thing plays out in September. No, (he doesn’t get the Nurmagomedov-Poirier winner), but it’ll shake a lot of things up, whoever wins that fight.”
Nurmagomedov and Poirier will meet in a lightweight title unification bout at UFC 242 on September 7th in Abu Dhabi.
