Excessive blood puts end to Cage Warriors 106 main event

✅ The welterweight unification bout ended with a canvas soaked with blood - to a dangerous degree ✅ Rematch is expected to settle the score

This weekends Cage Warriors event ended up looking like something out of a horror movie.

The main event for Cage Warriors 106 saw reigning champion Ross Houston throw down with Danish interim champion Nicolas Dalby in a unification bout. The welterweights began exchanging early Houston used a slicing elbow to open up an enormous gash on Dalbys forehead. In the second round the Dane connected with a devastating blow that broke Houstons nose, and at that point the blood was beginning to impede the fighters ability to keep proper balance.

Referee Marc Goddard was eventually forced to call a stop to the action as there was simply too much blood to continue in a safe manner. As three full rounds had not passed the bout was deemed a No Contest. All parties involved have accepted a rematch, with Dalby suggesting they face each other in the UFC octagon as the promotion will debut in Copenhagen in September.

Aside from that, Jai Herbert rose to the occasion, picking apart and finishing rising star Jack Grant in the third round. Dalbys countryman Mads Burnell lined up his third straight submission win, and second straight via Japanese necktie, as he finished the hometown champion Dean Trueman in the third round.

The middleweight title bout between James Webb and Nathias Frederick was an entertaining scrap that ended up getting wrapped in controversy, as Frederick received a point deduction for pile driving his opponent – and subsequently disrespecting the referee. Frenchman Samir Fadddine finished Brit Sam Creasey via TKO in the third to claim the flyweight belt, and Lithuanias Modestas Bukauskas defeated Norwegian Martin Hamlet to win the light heavyweight title.
