Andrei Arlovski betting underdog ahead of Ben Rothwell rematch
The betting lines were just released ahead of the heavyweight clash between Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (27-18, 2 NC) and “Big” Ben Rothwell (36-11) – a rematch more than ten years in the making. Despite Arlovski winning via technical knockout the first time they met, he comes in as a moderate underdog at 2.62, versus the betting favourite Rothwell who lands at 1.45 times the bet. Betting lines were provided Ohmbet.com.
The two will meet once again at UFC on ESPN 4, taking place in San Antonio, Texas, July 20th.
Arlovski in desperate need of a win
Though the more established and well known fighter, Arlovski comes into the rematch without a win in his past 4 fights, and having only won two out of his last nine fights. He encountered a tough, five fight losing streak between 2016 and 2017, rebounding with a win over Junior Albini in november 2017, following up with a victory over Stefan Struve four months later.
He now enters the fight with three decision losses and one No Contest in his last four fights, the No Contest was changed from a decision loss to Walt Harris at UFC 232. He most recently lost to Augusto Sakai at UFC on ESPN+ 8.
Rothwell is also in a precarious spot ahead of this rematch. After having a four fight winning streak brought to a halt courtesy of former UFC champion Junior dos Santos, he subsequently tested positive for banned substances and was suspended for two years. He returned in march this year, losing to Blagoi Ivanov via unanimous decision.
