Jeremy Stephens calls out “The Korean Zombie” following return KO
Fan favourite “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (15-5, #12) returned to the win column this weekend with a spectacular knockout win over fourth ranked Renato Moicano at UFC Greenville. It was another impressive showing from the Korean star, who has now won two out of his last three fights via first round KO.
One of those who was impressed was fellow UFC featherweight Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens (28-16, #7), who took to Twitter to issue a challenge to Jung, appealing to the UFC, it’s president Dana White and matchmaker Sean Shelby.
“I’ll take the ‘Korean Zombie’ next,” Stephens wrote on Twitter. “Let’s go @danawhite, @seanshelby, @ufc it’s the most exciting fight to make. Congrats on quick work, see ya soon!”
As of now Jung has not responded to the call out.
Stephens coming off of tough skid
The win over Moicano was a much needed one for Jung who, got back on track following a devastating knockout loss to Yair Rodriguez in november last year. The Korean was winning the fight up until getting finished in the very last second of the bout. Before that he knocked out Dennis Bermudez in the first round, in his first fight since 2013.
Stephens, on the other hand, is coming off back to back losses and has not won a fight in 2019 so far. He began last year by extending his win streak to three with a brutal knockout win over Josh Emmett. In July last year he faced former featherweight champion José Also – and was finished via first round TKO. In his last showing he lost a unanimous decision to rising Dagestani prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov.
