Francis Ngannou Releases Emotional Statement Following His Win At UFC Beijing

2018 has been a tough year for Francis Ngannou, but “The Predator” got back to winning ways this past weekend at UFC Beijing.

Ngannou came into the fight having lost back-to-back fights to Stipe Miocic and then Derrick Lewis. It was clear he was looking to bounce back in a big way against Curtis Blaydes in China on Saturday and he did exactly that stopping the American after just 40-seconds.

Taking to his social media after the fight, Ngannou thank the supporters that stuck by him and promised them that he was now going to repay their support.

“I finally saw the light yesterday night at UFC Beijing by overcoming my darkness which dragged me deep to the bottom,” Ngannou wrote. “My fans, my family and all those people who trust and believe in me have got persecuted by haters and doubters but they didn’t give up and they kept supporting me and that’s where I found strength to overcome all this.”

“I wanna thank every single one of you, who once trusted me and who kept supporting me, who stayed beside me and who didn’t stumble.

“I’m grateful to have any of you known and unknown by my side and in my life since this is all my life.”

“Thank you China and particularly Beijing for welcoming us and for all the love and energy you guys put in, it was an honor for me to perform for you guys such an amazing people and a great crowd. #TheRedemption.”

Ngannou will no doubt now look to get back into the UFC heavyweight title mix. Rumours of Cain Velasquez returning in 2019 and champion Daniel Cormier retiring will open up to the top of the division for the likes of Ngannou, but it would appear that some in the MMA community are still far from convinced that that Cameroonian has what it takes to hold the UFC heavyweight title.

Time will tell, but for the minute at least Ngannou is back in the win column.
