Cynthia Calvillo Misses Weight, Struggles to Stand on Scale at UFC Fight Night in Argentina
The weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night in Argentina have been completed with main event fighters Neil Magny and Santiago Ponzinibbio both hitting the mark ahead of their welterweight showdown on Saturday night.
Both Magny and Ponzinibbio came in at 171 pounds ahead of their headlining clash.
Beyond the main event, all of the fighters competing this weekend made weight minus a scary incident with strawweight contender Cynthia Calvillo.
Calvillo obviously struggled with her weight cut and she was forced to remove her clothes in an attempt to hit the 116-pound limit for a non-title fight in the strawweight division.
As a pair of UFC employees helped her out, Calvillo could barely stand on the scale, grimacing from the effects of the brutal weight cut and ultimately came in at 118 pounds — two pounds over the limit.
Afterward, Calvillo was still having problems getting around but eventually made her way backstage. The Brazilian commission ruled that Calvillo would be allowed to fight and fined her 20-percent for coming in over weight according to a report from MMAFighting.
