Michael Johnson Misses Weight, All Other Fighters On Point for UFC in Moncton

Michael Johnson was the only fighter who failed to make weight on Friday morning as the UFC Fight Night card moves forward in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada

Michael Johnson stepped up on short notice to fight Artem Lobov in the co-main event at UFC Fight Night in Moncton but failed to make weight on Friday.

Johnson came in at 147 pounds — one pound over the limit for a featherweight non-title fight — and was fined 20-percent of his purse as a penalty.

Lobov had previously stated that if Johnson missed weight he would not only accept the fight but he would give back the money received from the penalty because he was happy the former lightweight contender accepted the fight on short notice.

Lobov was originally scheduled to meet Zubaira Tukhugov but he was pulled from the card after his involvement during the post fight brawl at UFC 229 with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

Outside of Johnson’s miss, the rest of the fighters competing on Saturday night in Moncton made weight including main event fighters Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith, who both came in at 205.5 pounds for their heavyweight showdown.
