Floyd Mayweather Responds to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Challenge
Floyd Mayweather loves a big paycheck and he has dollar signs in his eyes after hearing that undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wants a fight against him.
Last week while in Russia, Mayweather’s longtime business partner and advisor Leonard Ellerbe met up with Nurmagomedov and the Russia issued the challenge.
“Hey, let’s go, Floyd. We have to fight now,” Nurmagomedov said. “50-0 vs. 27-0. Two guys never lose. Let’s go. Why not? Because in the jungle, only one king. Only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop [Conor] McGregor but I drop him easily. Let’s go!”
Obviously, Mayweather walked way with a reported payday near $300 million for his 10th round TKO against McGregor last August. The fight ended up as the second biggest pay-per-view in history.
So it’s easy to understand why Mayweather might actually entertain another challenge from a UFC star like Nurmagomedov because on paper the risk is very low but the paycheck could be rather large.
On Monday, Mayweather responded while asking his benefactors to break open the checkbook if they want to make the fight against Nurmagomedov a reality.
“CBS, Showtime and MGM Grand get the checkbook out!” Mayweather wrote on Twitter. “Go to Leonard Ellerbe’s page to view Khabib Nurmagomedov challenging me.”

As much as Mayweather might want to make another huge payday against a mixed martial artist, it’s tough to believe he’d rake in anywhere near the kind of cash against Nurmagomedov that he did going against McGregor.
There’s also very little chance that the UFC would sign off on another champion venturing over to boxing where Nurmagomedov would undoubtedly be a massive underdog for a match against Mayweather.
Regardless, Nurmagomedov and Mayweather are definitely stoking the flames to see what potential interest there might be in another crossover fight between the best of the best from mixed martial arts against one of the best ever from boxing.
