Valentina Shevchenko vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk Back on for UFC 231 in Toronto
The on again, off again saga of the women’s flyweight title has once again been rescheduled as Valentina Shevchenko is expected to meet Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 in Toronto in December.
The switch was made after Shevchenko was originally pulled from the fight to face former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ finalist Sijara Eubanks at UFC 230. That bout was scrapped on Tuesday when the UFC opted for a heavyweight title fight to headline that card instead with Daniel Cormier taking on Derrick Lewis.
Now the UFC has opted to put Shevchenko back in the fight with Jedrzejczyk to determine a new women’s flyweight champion.
News of the change was confirmed by UFC president Dana White via ESPN with additional sources confirming the move on Tuesday.
Eubanks was none too happy to find out her title shot was being eradicated just over a week after she was handed the opportunity by the UFC.
Put me under card. Put me co main. I don’t care. But put me in for the Flyweight title shot! @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 IVE EARNED MY SHOT. THIS IS MY TIME. Quit running this thing like a circus

Of course, Jedrzejczyk was in a similar situation when Shevchenko was yanked from their fight without any notice so she could compete at UFC 230.
Now the original fight between Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk is back on while Eubanks will apparently await a new fight and new opponent at a later date.
