Conor McGregor Out to Prove He is ‘The Pound-For-Pound No. 1 Fighter on the Planet’ (UFC Embedded)
Conor McGregor is back and he’s out to remind the world why he was the first ever simultaneous two division champion in UFC history.
It’s been nearly two years since McGregor last fought inside the Octagon and perhaps that time away has made the memory of his performances a little bit foggy to some of the critics.
That’s why McGregor says he’s ready to come back on Saturday night and reclaim his spot as the best fighter in the sport.
“I went around the world in that last one,” McGregor said about his fight against Floyd Mayweather on the first episode of ‘UFC Embedded’ for UFC 229. “It was like a circus. Put many of my tools into the toolbox and left them in there when I stepped into that boxing ring.
“I think many people forget the skills I possess. I look forward to going back out, proving once again that I am the pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter on the planet.”
McGregor didn’t come back to a warm up fight after such a long absence.
Instead, McGregor will face undefeated Russian wrecking machine Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is now the reigning UFC lightweight champion.
Heading into the fight, Nurmagomedov is the betting favorite picked to win but McGregor promises to put on another jaw-dropping performance when they meet in the main event at UFC 229.
“I see him as a dead man walking,” McGregor said about Nurmagomedov. “He s–t his jocks, like he always does, it’s nothing new. I’m going to go in smack him hard, rattle his head and raise that gold once again.”
Check out the rest of the new episode of UFC Embedded including a look at Nurmagomedov’s send off from San Jose and the return of former interim champion Tony Ferguson.
