Twitter Reacts To Peppa Pig’s TKO Victory Over Bellator 206 In The UK And Ireland
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Just when you thought Bellator MMA had got things right and treated UK fans to being able to actually watch their product live, PeppaPigGate strikes.
Bellator 206 went live at 3am this morning with the intention of showing the full main card and of course the champion vs champion showdown between Gegard Mousasi and Rory MacDonald.
Things looked to be going to plan, but unfortunately the event overran and that’s when the issues started.
Hearing that because the main card ran very late here… 3 hours 9 minutes, Channel 5 viewers did not see Mousasi-MacDonald… as programming cut off at 6am… unusual for it to run so late… domination by MW champion @mousasi_mma winning by 2nd rd TKO by ground and pound pic.twitter.com/pzj07Z2MQe

Seems because @bellatormma main card has gone over 3 hours we now have Peppa Pig … pic.twitter.com/fmVJxt5bnV

As explained by British journalist Gareth A. Davies, it appears that the issue related to the OFCOM watershed which stipulates that no programmes rated 15+ can broadcast after 6am in the UK and Ireland.
Hearing that OFCOM watershed at 6am will not allow programmes rated 15 … hence the 6am cut off of #Bellator206 – main card did run unusually long – 3hrs 9 mins … really understand fans disappointment and i will ask qns at press conf

As promised, Davies than asked Scott Coker about the issues at the post-fight press conference and the Bellator president wasn’t happy to say the least.
Asked @ScottCoker at the @bellatormma post fight press conf about the 'Peppa Pig' issues on @channel5_tv
& 6am cut off — they will look to get replay out and work to ensure it doesnt happen again – 'believe me there were emails going back and forth and they were not friendly' pic.twitter.com/MnMYjGLMjM— Gareth A Davies (@GarethADaviesDT) September 30, 2018
Hat tip to SevereMMA’s Sean Sheehan who started his Saturday off by watching his beloved Manchester United turn in another turgid performance away at West Ham.
Sean decided it would be a good decision to stay awake and take in Bellator 206 and unfortunately he wasn’t rewarded for his loyalty.
Channel 5 just cut away from Bellator for another show.
