Angela Lee And Bibiano Fernandes Involved In Champion vs Champion Fights In November
ONE Championship atomweight world champion Angela Lee will move up to flyweight on November 9 to challenge the ONE Championship women’s flyweight champion Xiong Jing Nan, whilst the ONE Championship bantamweight unified when Bibiano Fernandes faces Kevin Belingon.
The news was announced last evening by ONE Championship CEO/Chairman Chatri Sityodtong on his Facebook page:
“I’m thrilled to announce two “World Champion vs World Champion” Super Fights for the first time in history in ONE Championship for November 9 in Singapore! BOOM!!!
Angela Lee vs Xiong Jing Nan
Bibiano Fernandes vs Kevin Belingon
The rest of the card is also insanely STACKED!!! Stay tuned for some big news! #WeAreONE”
Lee is unbeaten as a professional mixed martial artist with a 9-0 record. The 22-year-old won the ONE atomweight world title back in May 2016 when she defeated Mei Yamaguchi at ONE: Ascent to Power in Singapore. Lee has since defended the belt three times with victories over Jenny Huang, Istela Nunes and then again in a rematch with Yamaguchi earlier this year.
Xiong Jing Nan is 13-1 as professional and is currently riding an 8-fight win streak. “The Panda” won the ONE flyweight title back in January when she defeated Tiffany Teo vi a fourth round KO. The Chinese fighter has since defended the belt twice defeating Laura Balin and Samara Santos.
Also announced for the card, ONE Championship bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes (22-3) will look to extend his 14-fight win streak when he takes on the interim ONE Championship bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon.
Fernandes has looked unstoppable under the ONE banner with wins over the likes of Martin Nguyen, Andrew Leone and Reece McLaren on his record.
Belingon however is also a man in form and he will be looking for revenge over Fernandes having lost to him already back in 2016. The Philipino has since put 6 back-to-back wins together under the ONE banner and has looked vastly improved since his first showdown with the Brazilian.
