Jessica Eye vs. Sijara Eubanks in the Works for UFC 232 in Las Vegas
A women’s flyweight fight that could determine the next No. 1 contender in the division is on tap for UFC 232 as Jessica Eye is expected to face Sijara Eubanks on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas.
Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news on Wednesday following an initial report from ESPN. While verbal agreements are in place, the UFC has not made any official announcement regarding the matchup and nothing is finalized until contracts are signed and returned.
It wasn’t long ago that Eye and Eubanks were sparking up a rivalry through a series of messages going back and forth on Twitter. Now it appears the UFC is capitalizing on that while also putting together a fight between two flyweight contenders who have gone undefeated inside the Octagon.
Eye is currently 2-0 since returning to her chosen weight class at 125 pounds with her most recent win coming against Jessica-Rose Clark.
Meanwhile, Eubanks was originally supposed to fight for the inaugural women’s flyweight title after competing on “The Ultimate Fighter” but she suffered through a bad weight cut that knocked her out of the championship bout.
Eubanks returned in June and picked up a unanimous decision victory over Lauren Murphy to cement her spot as one of the top fighters in the fledgling women’s flyweight division.
Now Eubanks is expected to face Eye at UFC 232 with the winner likely sitting very close to a title shot at 125 pounds.
