Floyd Mayweather Gives Conor McGregor His Backing Ahead Of His Fight With Khabib Nurmagomedov
Everyone is having their say on the upcoming Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov fight and that includes the Irishman’s old adversary, Floyd Mayweather.
Just over a year ago, McGregor battled Mayweather in a boxing fight in Las Vegas and was stopped in the tenth round. Mayweather flirted with potentially rematching the Irishman in the Octagon, but after some initial noise McGregor’s feud with Nurmagomedov clicked through the gears and he is now set to face the Russian on Oct. 6 at UFC 229.
Speaking to TMZ today, Mayweather spoke about the upcoming McGregor vs Nurmagomedov fight and he threw his back behind his former rival.
“Conor’s not gonna back down and he’s not a scared fighter at all. Win, lose or draw, Conor’s gonna come to fight,” Mayweather continued.
“I don’t really have a prediction because I’ve never seen the guy fight that’s facing Conor McGregor.
“From what I know he’s a hell of a guy that’s on the ground, hell of a grappler, and he can wrestle.
“But, the fans want to see you stand up and fight. That’s what the fans like to see.
“But, Conor McGregor, he’s a tough competitor, like I said before Conor McGregor’s not gonna back down from anyone, he’s not scared, he’s a warrior.”
Mayweather even went as far as suggesting McGregor come train at the infamous Mayweather Boxing Club when he heads over to Las Vegas prior to the fight.
“They’re fighting in Vegas, I’ll talk with Dana, I may talk with Conor and get some tickets.
“But leading up to the fight I know that UFC have got a training facility, but we’d like for him to work out at the Mayweather Boxing Club.”
Something tells us that won’t be an offer McGregor will be accepting any time soon.
