Bethe Correia Out of UFC 227, Irene Aldana Pulled from Card

Former title contender Bethe Correia has been forced out of UFC 227 this weekend and her opponent Irene Aldana will not get a replacement on short notice.

UFC 227 has lost a fight just days before the event.

Former women’s bantamweight title contender Bethe Correia has been forced to pull out of her fight against Irene Aldana just four days away from the event due to an undisclosed injury.

UFC officials made the announcement on Tuesday.

“Due to injury, Bethe Correia has been forced to withdraw from her UFC 227 bout against Irene Aldana. The fight will not be replaced and the card will proceed with 12 bouts.”

There’s no exact word on what happened to Correia as she was looking to make her return to action for the first time in over a year. It appears now Correia will have to wait even longer for her next fight inside the Octagon.

As for Aldana, the UFC has made no announcement about her being paid for the event or if they will attempt to rebook her for a different fight now that Correia is out.

A new fight will replace Aldana vs. Correia on the preliminary card airing live on FX on Saturday night but that matchup has not been determined yet as UFC 227 moves from 13 total bouts down to 12 overall.
