Conor McGregor Was ‘Very Happy’ For Jose Aldo After TKO Finish at UFC on FOX 30

No one promotes a fight better than Conor McGregor but even he can let go of a grudge when a rivalry is settled.

Case in point is McGregor’s long simmering feud with former featherweight champion Jose Aldo that came to an end back in 2015 when the Irishman earned a stunning 13-second knockout when they met at UFC 194.

Since that time, McGregor has moved onto a pair of record breaking fights against Nate Diaz as well as capturing a second UFC title when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez in 2016.

It seems McGregor has definitely moved on from his rivalry with Aldo after he was asked about the former champion’s performance from this past weekend at UFC on FOX 30 where he earned a TKO win over Jeremy Stephens.

The win was a pivotal moment in Aldo’s career as the former champion was bouncing back from two consecutive TKO losses to reigning featherweight king Max Holloway.

“I was so happy for him. Honestly, truly,” McGregor said about Aldo’s win when speaking to TMZ. “To see the joy he had after it. It’s a crazy business and I know he’s gone through a lot of stuff so to see him come back with that great finish, I was very happy for him and his coach Andre Pederneiras.

“The whole of Ireland was happy for Jose Aldo that night.”

Aldo had stated prior to the fight that he intended to compete his UFC contract and then retire from the sport.

Of course, Aldo still has a few bouts remaining on his current deal and now he hopes to have another chance to reclaim the featherweight title before calling it a career.
