Joanna Jedrzejczyk Out Strikes Tecia Torres to Return to the Win Column at UFC on FOX 30
Joanna Jedrzejczyk is back in the race for the strawweight title after earning a unanimous decision victory over Tecia Torres on Saturday night at UFC on FOX 30.
The former women’s champion was looking to bounce back after suffering two losses in a row to current strawweight queen Rose Namajunas.
The matchup against Torres was the first time Jedrzejczyk had been involved in three round non-title fight since 2014, but she definitely didn’t lose a step over the course of all 15 minutes in the cage.
While Torres was constantly pressing forward looking for takedown attempts, it was Jedrzejczyk who showed off a strong grappling defense to consistently escape or reverse positions against the cage.
In return when Jedrzejczyk would finally find a way to separate, she would control the center of the Octagon with a potent striking attack.
Jedrzejczyk showcased a long jab, which has always been one of her best weapons in a fight and then following it up with a blistering series of combinations.
The five-inch reach advantage definitely helped Jedrzejczyk constantly keep Torres at the end of her punches while landing with good pop behind all of her punches.
As time ticked away on the fight, Torres kept attempting to press forward with the takedowns but Jedrzejczyk was too strong defensively and offered her opponent no chance to do any damage.
When it was all over, the judges agreed that Jedrzejczyk had done more than enough to earn the win with scores of 30-27 across the board.

“I am the strawweight queen with or without the belt,” Jedrzejczyk proclaimed after getting the win.
Strong words from the former champion as Jedrzejczyk looks to re-establish herself as the best strawweight in the world with hopes of meeting champion Rose Namajunas for a third time at some point in the future.
