Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Manager Says Conor McGregor ‘Would Be Much Safer in Jail’
All signs are pointing towards a clash between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor later this year.
The highly anticipated showdown got the green light on Thursday after McGregor completed a plea agreement with prosecutors in Brooklyn after he went on a tirade through the Barclays Center earlier this year.
McGregor’s rampage ended with Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg suffering injuries along with one UFC employee after he tried to go after Nurmagomedov following an altercation with fellow fighter Artem Lobov earlier that same week.
McGregor ultimately agreed to a plea deal that included no jail time, anger management courses and community service as well as one charge for disorderly conduct that won’t even appear as a criminal record.
Now with his court case settled, McGregor is ready to resume his fight career with a bout against Nurmagomedov already in the works for later this year.
While it appears to just be a matter of time before the fight is finalized, Nurmagomedov’s manager offered a stern warning to McGregor as he looks to return to the Octagon for the first time in nearly two years.
“There’s no more talking. This is the Khabib show now,” Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz said in a statement on Thursday. “To be honest the way I feel about it Conor would be much safer in jail.
“If this fight happens the person who would execute the community service is Khabib by giving this ass whooping for the people.”
Nothing is set in stone just yet but rumors have been swirling that the UFC may put together the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor as early as October or potentially in November at the upcoming card taking place in Madison Square Garden in New York.
For his part, Nurmagomedov sent out his own message seemingly aimed at McGregor after word of his plea agreement was revealed on Thursday.
