Yoel Romero Faces Rising Star Paulo Costa at UFC 230 in New York

Former middleweight title contender Yoel Romero will stay at 185 pounds for his next fight as he faces surging prospect Paulo Costa at UFC 230 in New York.

Former middleweight title contender Yoel Romero will stay at 185 pounds for his next fight as he faces surging prospect Paulo Costa at UFC 230 in New York.

UFC officials announced the fight on Tuesday for the card taking place on Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Romero had teased a move to light heavyweight after coming up just short in his bid to win the title back in June in an epic five round battle against reigning 185-pound champion Robert Whittaker.

Romero had pursued a fight with current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier but obviously the matchup didn’t come together.

Ultimately Romero decided to stay at middleweight where he will face a fast rising star in Costa, who is coming off four straight wins in the UFC — all by knockout or TKO.

Most recently, Costa dispatched former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ runner-up Uriah Hall in impressive fashion at UFC 226.

Now the Brazilian knockout artist will take a huge step forward in his career as he meets Romero in a middleweight showdown at UFC 230 in New York.

No main event has been announced for the upcoming card on Nov. 3 but several fights have been confirmed recently so a headliner should be coming any day now.
