Ilir Latifi Out of Co-Main Event Against Glover Teixiera at UFC in Germany
The upcoming UFC card in Germany is down another fighter after Ilir Latifi was forced out of his co-main event bout against Glover Teixeira on July 22.
Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news on Thursday as the UFC is once again searching for a replacement opponent.
The news about Latifi’s withdrawal comes just a day after the promotion announced a new main event for the card as Anthony Smith takes on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
Smith took the fight on short notice after former title contender Volkan Oezdemir was forced off the card due to visa issues. Oezdemir is now fighting Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 in Los Angeles instead.
Now the UFC is scrambling to find another replacement to face Teixeira on short notice with the card in Hamburg, Germany just two weeks away.
News of Latifi’s removal from the card was initially reported by ESPN.
