Brett Johns vs Pedro Munhoz Added To UFC 227
A bantamweight bout has been added to UFC 227 on Aug. 4 with Welshman Brett Johns taking on Brazilian fighter Pedro Munhoz in Los Angeles.
The news was first reported last evening by MMA Junkie.
Johns (15-1) is coming off the back of his first career loss having been defeated by Aljamain Sterling in April at UFC Fight Night 128. Prior to that, the Welshman had put together a 15 fight win streak with three of wins coming under the UFC banner against Kwan Ho Kwak, Albert Morales and Joe Soto. Johns will now look to get back on track when he fights on a UFC pay-per-view for the first time, but in his way stands a man with more than twice the experience then him inside the UFC Octagon.
Munhoz (15-3) is also coming off a loss having been defeated by John Dodson back at UFC 222 in March earlier this year. The defeat was Munhoz’s first in two and a half years having put together a four fight win streak with victories over Russell Doane, Justin Scoggins, Damian Stasiak and Rob Font.
UFC 227 will be headlined by a UFC bantamweight title fight between champion TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt. The co-main event will feature a UFC flyweight title fight with Demetrious Johnson taking on Henry Cejudo.
