Wanderlei Silva Announces 4th Fight Against ‘Rampage’ Jackson in Bellator MMA
Wanderlei Silva will clash once again with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at an upcoming Bellator MMA event on Sept. 29.
Silva announced the news via Facebook and Instagram where he revealed the news about a fourth showdown with Jackson after three previous bouts took place between PRIDE FC and the UFC.
“It is my great honor that I announce my return to MMA on Sept. 29 in California. I will do the Bellator MMA main event against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. It will be our fourth match. I am very happy with my return and it will undoubtedly be a great show for everyone!”
Silva defeated Jackson twice when they were both competing under the PRIDE FC banner in Japan. The first fight was part of the PRIDE middleweight Grand Prix and the rematch is regarded as one of the best fights in history where Silva knocked out Jackson with a knee strike that sent him flying through the ring ropes.
The third fight took place in the UFC where Jackson finally got his revenge as he earned a vicious first round knockout back in 2008. Now a decade later, Silva will look to settle the score with Jackson at a fight expected to take place in September.
Assuming the fight takes place as announced, both Silva and Jackson would be looking to bounce back from recent losses. Silva fell to rival Chael Sonnen in his Bellator debut in 2017 and Jackson was bounced out of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix with a loss to Sonnen earlier this year.
Bellator MMA officials haven’t confirmed the fight but they did put out a statement on Wednesday teasing a press conference for next week that will involve both Silva and Jackson.
By all accounts it’s expected that press conference will announce “Rampage” vs. Silva 4 in Bellator MMA.
