Colby Covington Calls For A Showdown With Tyron Woodley At MSG
Colby Covington is the new interim UFC welterweight champion and he has wasted no time calling for a unification showdown bout with Tyron Woodley.
Speaking at the UFC 225 post-fight press conference, Covington made it clear that he wants to unify the titles against Woodley and that his preferred date would be in November at Madison Square Garden.
“I’m looking at the Madison Square Garden card in November,” Covington said. “I’m looking around that sort of timeframe. I put in a lot for this camp so I’m going to keep getting better and I’ve been getting better every time you see me.
“I’m putting a lot of work into Muay Thai hard man. This guy is a fake and he’s out there spitting bars, you should listen to him. You think you guys hate me now, you should go try listening to his rap album. That’s a joke.
“Besides that he’s doing his little gossip stuff in Hollywood and he’s doing these little B-list movie roles that go straight to DVD. He’s doing everything but fighting and that’s why I’m here. I’m here to make this welterweight division great again.”
