Jan Blachowicz Eyeing Showdown With Glover Teixeira In Moscow

UFC Moscow will take place on September 15 and Jan Blachowicz is eyeing a showdown with fellow UFC light heavyweight Glover Teixeira.

The UFC’s first-ever event in Russia will take place on Sept. 15 in Moscow and UFC light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz fancies a bit of the action.

The Pole last fought back in March when he defeated Jimi Manuwa via a unanimous decision at UFC London. The win was Blachowicz’s third in a row and he’s now looking to get himself booked on the UFC’s debut fight card in Russia.

“I don’t have any fight scheduled yet, but I’d like to fight in Moscow in September. We’ll see if it’s possible, but I surely won’t come back earlier,” Blachowicz told MMA Rocks.

With UFC Hamburg on July 22 featuring two high profile light heavyweight bouts featuring Volkan Oezdemir vs Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Glover Teixeira vs Ilir Latifi, Blachowicz knows that he will have to wait on the sidelines for a shot at either of his preferred opponents.

For the time being at least, it appears the Pole will have to spend a period on the sidelines and stay ready just in case an opening appears on the card.

“I will fight whoever they put in front of me. But it would be nice to fight Teixeira or obviously Shogun – everybody knows I want to fight him. We’ll see,” Blachowicz said.

“There will be an event in Hamburg, we’ll see how the fights will play out and if there will be any injuries or if they will want to even fight in Moscow.

“Potentially I have four opponents in Hamburg, so we will see, but it would be nice to fight Teixeira.”
