Darren Till Calls for a Fight Against Kamaru Usman Next

Darren Till didn't want to call his shot immediately after a win in Liverpool but now he's ready to name the fighter he'd like the face next.

Darren Till just came off the biggest win of his career as he edged out Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson over five rounds at the first ever UFC event in his hometown of Liverpool, England.

Afterwards, Till wasn’t ready to name any fighter he wanted to face specifically other than saying that he knew he didn’t deserve a title shot, especially after failing to make weight on Saturday.

Following the close of the post fight press conference, Till finally revealed the fighter at the top of his wishlist and it’s a fellow welterweight contender in the middle of a big winning streak in the division.

“I’d like [Kamaru] Usman. I want Usman,” Till revealed when speaking to Megan Olivi. “Him, [Jorge] Masvidal, I just don’t want to say the winner of Colby [Covington] or RDA [Rafael dos Anjos]. I feel like the winner of that should fight [Tyron] Woodley and then we’ll see what’s happening cause that’s a bit of confusion right now.

“I know I just beat the No. 1 [ranked fighter] but I still want to beat all these other guys. Everyone goes on about Usman. I’m not scared of that guy. That guy’s not scared of me. I know that. So me and him should fight. Masvidal, he got offered the fight here, I’d love that fight against him. He’s so game. There’s a few other guys, just anyone. Anyone.”

Usman actually called for the fight against Till in Liverpool several months ago but he ended up in a main event of his own in Chile where he just defeated Demian Maia a couple of weeks ago.

While the new UFC rankings haven’t been released just yet, it’s like that Till and Usman will soon occupy two of the top five spots in the contender’s race for a title shot.

Considering the win streak each of them is on right now not to mention the interim title fight planned for UFC 225 that will likely keep the welterweight championship tied up for the majority of 208, Till likes the idea of taking on another top notch opponent rather than just sitting around and waiting for something to happen.

By all accounts a Till vs. Usman fight would make sense to potentially crown another No. 1 contender in the division and now it’s up to the UFC whether or not that’ll make that dream fight a reality.
