Darren Till Targets Title Fight At Anfield: ‘When I Beat Thompson, Woodley Is Going To Have To Come To Me’
Darren Till will bring the UFC to Liverpool for the first time in their history later this month and he’s already eyeing up how he can go one step bigger.
The Liverpudlian takes on Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson on May 27 at the Liverpool Echo Arena and will look to propel himself right into the thick of the 170-pounds title mix.
Speaking on the first episode of his new vlog series capturing the build up to his fight with Thompson, Till mapped out what will happen after he defeats the #1 ranked American and he has an eye on taking things one step bigger in his hometown.
“It’s Anfield. After I beat him [Thompson], I become the money fight in that divisions and Woodley has to come to me,” Till tells John Gooden.
“I will shout and call for Anfield like you’ve never seen in your life and I will make it happen and Woodley will have to come to me.”
The UFC currently has an interim UFC welterweight title fight between Colby Covington and Rafael dos Anjos taking place at UFC 225 next month and the winner of that fight should get the next crack at Woodley.
Whoever gets their hand raised on May 27 however will be right in the mix of getting a shot a the unified champion. These are exciting times at 170-pounds and in the next few weeks the top contenders should start to emerge.
