Brunson has been anxiously awaiting his chance to get back in action after suffering a TKO loss to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in his most recent bout in January.
Brunson had previously been asking for a chance to face former middleweight champion Michael Bisping but that fight never materialized so obviously he’s moved onto a new matchup instead.
As for Carlos Junior, the former heavyweight turned middleweight has won his last five fights in a row including four by submission. In his most recent bout, Carlos Junior put away veteran middleweight contender Tim Boetsch by first round rear naked choke to move his record to 10-2 with one no contest.
Brunson vs. Carlos Junior is the latest addition to the UFC 227 fight card that will also feature a bantamweight title fight rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt, which takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
